Description
Yomesan is a drug used in cases of infestation with tapeworms such as:

Taenia saginata (ordinary tapeworm)

Taenia solium (pork tapeworm)
-
Diphyllobothrium latum (broad tapeworm)
-
Hymenolepis nana (dwarf tapeworm)
Indication
Yomesan expels tapeworms which are located in the intestine. An operation is not expected with infection with the larvae of the tapeworm (cysticercosis and echinococcosis), because these larvae are in the tissues outside the intestines.
Use
If tapeworm infection of beef, pork tapeworm and tapeworm bothriocephalus:

Adults and children over 6 years: 4 tablets

Children 2 to 6 years: 2 tablets

Children under 2 years: 1 tablet
If dwarf tapeworm infection, a seven days treatment is recommended in the following doses: Day 1:

Adults and children over 6 years: 4 tablets

Children 2 to 6 years: 2 tablets
-
Children under 2 years: 1 tablet
The following day, daily dose:

Adults and children over 6 years: 2 tablets

Children 2 to 6 years: 1 tablet

Children under 2 years: ½ tablet
The daily dose should always be taken at once right after breakfast.
Ingredients

The active substance is niclosamide. One tablet contains 500 mg of niclosamide.

The other ingredients (excipients) are: talc, sodium lauryl sulphate, povidone, vanillin, magnesium stearate, sodium saccharin and corn starch.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Yomesan can cause side effects, although not everybody reacts the same way. Rarely mild disorders and passengers in the gastrointestinal tract were noted, such as a tendency to vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain. Hypersensitivity such as skin redness, itching and rash reactions may occur in isolated cases. If you experience any of the side effects gets serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
Warning
Never Take Yomesan
- If you are hypersensitive (allergic) to niclosamide or any other ingredients in Yomesan.
Be careful with Yomesan
- In case of constipation, it is necessary to cause effective defecation before applying treatment with Yomesan.
- One must refrain from consuming alcohol during treatment.
Food and Drink
- Interaction with alcohol is not to exclude, avoid simultaneous use of alcohol.
Pregnancy and Nursing
- Animal tests have shown that Yomesan has no adverse effect on the fetus. However, for security reasons, Yomesan can not be taken during pregnancy only if strictly necessary.
Taking Yomesan, especially during the first trimester of pregnancy is not recommended. Passing Yomesan in breast milk is not known. Ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine.
While Driving and using machines
- Even if taken at the prescribed dose, it is possible that Yomesan slow your reaction time and thus have an influence on your ability to drive and use machines. This is particularly the case when simultaneously drinking.
